Adherence to Event Leader Directives
Event leaders are responsible for the overall success of the event. Failure to obey a trip leader, or his/her designated assistant, is cause for expulsion from AO, as determined by the Board of Directors.
Events Attended by Non-members
Non-members are welcome to attend any AO event unless specifically disallowed on the flyer. Members and Non-members alike must RSVP for any event. Most events are available on a first-come first-served basis, without prejudice to non-members.
Unprepared/Unqualified Participant (based on event flyer description)
Event participants are required to meet or exceed all standards specified in the event flyer. Attendees must be properly prepared and possess the appropriate skill level described. Event leaders, at their discretion, may refuse attendees whom in their judgment, fail to qualify.
Suggested AO and IGT (Impromptu Get Together) events
Members may submit suggested AO events to the Board of Directors for consideration. IGT recommendations require approval of the event scheduler (Bell Yee).
Indoor Events
Though most AO events are outdoors, AO schedules a specific number of indoor events each year. This number varies from quarter to quarter, depending upon the season.
Non-payment of Carpool Fee
A member who fails to compensate his/her driver the required carpool fee will be excluded from future carpools.
Alcohol Consumption
Any member who arrives at an event intoxicated or in possession of alcoholic beverages will not be permitted to participate. Furthermore, no use of alcohol is permitted during the course of an event. This policy is exclusive of certain festive events and most AO sponsored parties.
Cancellations and No shows
A) A member who remits a deposit for a paid Asian Outdoors outing who subsequently rescinds his/her registration will be subject to a $10.00 cancellation fee. This policy has been effectuated to discourage members who are not fully committed to attend such an event from registering, and thereby potentially shutting out other members from participating. Be advised that in certain cases, your entire deposit may be forfeited.
B) A member, who registers for a „limited-space‰ no-cost Asian Outdoors outing who subsequently rescinds his/her registration, or simply does not attend, will be monitored and may be disallowed to renew his/her membership, based upon the frequency of such occurrences.
Non-registered Attendees
A trip leader, at his or her discretion, may deny participation to any attendee who arrives at an event but did not RSVP. Repeated offenders will be subject to membership revocation.
Late Arrivals
Trip leaders are not required to wait beyond the starting time of an event for late arrivals. The leader may, however, wait additional time if he/she chooses to do so, based on circumstances.
Bicycle Helmets
Helmets are required to be worn by all participants of biking events.
Policy Decisions
The Board of Directors is the governing body of AO and therefore promulgates all rules and policies. At all times, the Board retains exclusive rights to add, remove or modify AO policies. Furthermore, the Board may for any reason, revoke or fail to renew the membership of any current member.
